The evolution of the Internet as a means for conducting business and making transactions has seen a tremendous growth over recent years. Many independent professionals, entrepreneurs and small business owners have plunged into the online business world and made a name for themselves, addressing either a local audience or a global one. The good news is that there is still a lot of money to be made using the Internet as a means of either setting up an online business or advertising for your existing commercial activity. However, as we all know, reaching the targeted audience and getting the message out there is of the utmost importance. And when it comes to online marketing, getting high quality traffic and one-way links to your web site is vital. This can be achieved in a number of ways, all of which fall under the large category of search engine optimization services.

One way of getting high quality one-way links to your web site, whose efficiency has already been proven, is Pligg submission. For those of you who are not familiar with Pligg sites, you should know that these sites are communities dedicated to social voting, which are very similar to social bookmarking sites in all aspects, except for their size. Pligg sites are social media sites that can be created by anyone who wants to build a community around a specific area and target a particular audience. At this point, Pligg sites are among the fastest and most effective ways of launching a new social media website.

Going back to search engine optimization and the part that Pligg submission plays in it, you should also know that links are submitted to Pligg sites and users vote for them according to their preference. This translates into exposure and visibility, which results in one-way links to your site.

However, as you might have guessed, there’s also a catch to Pligg submission. Thousands of sites are already being powered by this open source content management system. Most Pligg sites are not worth submitting to, as their future is questionable at most. As with all the other submissions that help drive traffic and improve your site’s rankings, such as social bookmarking submission, web directory submission, article submission, etc., Pligg submit must be carefully performed. It usually takes a SEO expert to be able to tell which are the best Pligg sites where submission really pays off. Moreover, this SEO tool will only work to your advantage if submission is done manually and to a couple hundred Pligg sites.

Pligg submit is also a very efficient way for a newly-developed web site to be indexed within a shorter time frame. Furthermore, Pligg submission is a very good linking strategy, as it allows the building of links for the inner pages, also known as deep links. This eventually translates into better rankings with the major search engines.

In this era of technology, everything appears to be shrinking by the day – distances or devices. People talk about the world being a global village. Gadgets decrease in efficiency. Very few have the patience to read a one-thousand page novel anymore -  they would rather buy its abridged version. In such a scenario, it comes as no surprise that blogging has taken the same turn.

Conventional blogs used to contain properly composed entries, arranged in a reverse chronological order. Some of the entries were very-in-depth. Of course, the length of the entry itself varied from blog to blog. They could be as short as one-liners, while others would be long and excessively descriptive.

With time, blogging software has given way to microblogging. As a whole, this essentially means that the posted entry will be short, very concise text. Interestingly, also with time, new terminologies have surfaced. It is common to hear the terms “tweeting”, or “status updates”.

BACK IN TIME

It is interesting to note that now the term ‘microblogs’ came into existence. In 2005, the term “tumblelog” was given to those blogs, which had a collection of small text entries, or multimedia ones. The idea was that everything was  “tumbled” on one blog. By 2006 and 2007, this term eventually gave way to “microblog” which, one has to admit, is a more sophisticated way of referring to it. A Chinese website counted the total number of micro blogs in May 2007 and the total came to eleven.  Since then more and more websites have joined the micro blogging world.

Of course, social networking websites were not to be left behind this phenomenon, so they came up with their own integrated version of micro blogging which allowed them their users to post what’s on their mind or what they are currently doing. Apart from Face book and Orkut, micro blogging features are also present in MySpace and LinkedIn.

IN A WORD

Micro blogging is actually an excellent way to connect for people who otherwise would have no time for conventional blog entries. Micro blogging gives then a way whereby they can simply write whatever is currently on their minds, but is saves them and their readers from writing or reading long or boring entries. Obviously when you are limited by 100 or so characters, you cannot afford to be very wordy.

Micro blogging is also convenient for readers as they do not have to scroll over paragraphs and paragraphs or someone’s bad day or wait for a heavy image or long video to load. It saves time and gives one the scoop anyway. That is probably one of the reasons why there are so many “businesses” on twitter.

Readers digest and The New York Times are only two of the big names that post a steady flow of twitter updates for their followers. Of course, they have their own blogs too, but micro blogs have an audience of their own.

The CONS

As with every type of blogging, micro-blogging comes with its own drawbacks. The main disadvantage is that you probably lose out to the depth of an issue, and simple scrape the surface of the topics and this is precisely what can lead to misinterpretations at times. Readers have to be wary of how they treat this information; creditability and accuracy are often critical issues. Also micro blogging is apparently not the domain of every individual in cyber space. Micro Blogging may take less time, but it certainly requires more commitment. It is very easy to lose enthusiasm and consistency with a micro blog. A survey showed that only 10 percent of twitter users account for 80 percent of activity. Businesses on Twitter have their own issues to deal with.

There is a lot of potential for company information to leak out thorugh employees using micro blogging and social networking services. This gives rise to another main issue -  how is the microblogging website in question handling its security? Any laxity in this regard can have major repercussions, especially since microblogging, can lead to the compilation of entire dossiers on the lifestyle and habits of  individual users.

ALTERNATIVELY

The above cons should not deter any excited micro blogger. If one does not have time to log onto a separate website to post the updates, then the social networking websites which is visited regularly can be used for the same purpose. Micro Bloggers can stick to the same guidelines of ethics that they would in the conventional blogging scenario.

On the corporate level, companies can communicate to employees in a non-technical way the potential for breaches of privacy and security and ways in which to avoid inadvertent information leaks.

Micro blogging services can also make clear their terms and conditions, detailing the usage of information posted by users, along with the security measures they have put in place. There is no reason the potential of microblogging cannot be explored to its extent.

A blog is basically an online journal wherein you can digitally pen down your thoughts, ideas, opinions and practically anything that you want people to read. Blogs come in different styles, formats, and settings, depending on the preference of the user. Many blogging sites, offer built in features such as hyperlink, straight texts, pictures etc. Some blogging sites, even allow you to put video and mp3’s on your blogs.

Instead of writing texts, some bloggers choose to make their blogs more audio friendly, by using spoken word entries. This is called audio blogging.

Basically a blog contains these features:

title- which allows you to label your post
body- this is the content of your post
trackback- other sites can be linked back to your blog
permanent link- every article that you write has a URL
comments- this allow readers to post comments on your blog.

One of the advantages of blogging, is that it is made of only a few templates. Unlike, other websites that is made up of numerous individual pages. This make it easier for blog users to create new pages, because it already has a fix setting that include: slots for title, body of the post, category, etc.

This is especially useful for first time users, since they can start blogging right away. They can chose from a number of templates that blogging websites provide.

Anyone who wants to start a blog can do so by becoming a member of a blogging website of their choice. Once they’ve become members, they automatically become a part of that particular blogging community. They can browse through other bloggers pages, and link them back to their own blogs. They can also make comments on other members’ blogs.

Blogging is not just limited to personal usage. There are a lot of blogs that follow a theme such as: sports, politics, philosophy, social commentary, etc. These blogs espouse on their specific themes. This way blogging becomes a medium in which people can share their knowledge and opinions about a variety of themes and topics.

Some bloggers even use their blogs as a means to advertise. Some authors advertise their books on their blogs. While other bloggers, use their blogs to shed light to currents issues, events, news and catastrophes.

Articles vs. Blog and Ping

I think it’s time for many Affiliate Marketers (AM) to reconsider their methods for building their web sites Search Engine position. I have been using Blog and Ping techniques for about a year now, but blog and ping is slowing loosing its effectiveness because so many AM’s are using the method.

Article Marketing Experts

100% Manual Submission Writing At Per 500 Words for FREE http://www.MagicSeoBot.com

If you’ve been living on the dark side of the moon, then you may not know what Blog and Ping is all about. Well, in a nutshell, blog and ping is a technique for increasing your websites position by creating blogs and using software that automatically posts to those blogs along with links back to your main website. The blogs then ping Blog services to notify them that some new content is available. The ping services then attract Search Engine spiders and before to long, you’re website is spidered.

This solution worked like wonders about a year ago (2005), but is loosing its effectiveness because all the blog and ping tools create mediocre content that is all based on Search Engine scrapes or RSS feeds. You end up getting a blog site full of useless information with links back to your web page. The Search Engines have caught on and they are able to filter out the bad content. In fact, it may actually be hurting your website. There’s no proof yet, but I would expect that all the SE’s will soon start penalizing websites that are trying to boost their position through blog and ping techniques.

That brings me to articles. About four months ago, I wrote an article and posted it to ArticleCity. After I submitted it, I forgot about it. Just yesterday, during a moment of boredom, I thought about that article and decided to do some research. Had anyone picked it up? A quick search on Google showed that the article has been published on 802 different websites! I also noticed that after Google’s last update, the Page Rank (PR) of my affiliate marketing website went up nicely from 3 to 5.

This was with just ONE ARTICLE submitted to just ONE ARTICLE SITE that I put together in :30 minutes. I was floored.

Considering how much time I’ve spent configuring blog and ping software, how many unneeded domains I’ve purchased to make traffic all look like it’s coming from different directions, how hard I’ve worked trying to find content for the B&P software, etc…. I would have been much better off just writing good, informative articles.

Blogs are definitely the notable gifts of the rapidly evolving Internet world in the last decade. Always dubbed as the online journal, blogs or web logs are the most effective platform for people to post entries regarding their personal accounts, interests, and views in a chronological order. Their effectiveness has gone beyond that in recent times with the growing popularity of search engine marketing. Web logs as the website content management systems are now equipped with the most sophisticated features like comments, trackbacks, sharing with social networking websites, RSS feeds, etc.

Since search engines adopt the approach of indexing, categorizing and ranking a web page, blogs with keyword-rich and original content can hold a significant position in a particular search engine optimization campaign. Having a blog for your company can be beneficial to attract potential customers in the form of frequent readers. It gives your business a personalized space over the Internet. However, sincere and smart efforts are the prerequisite elements to capitalize on the potency of web logs.

When you’re owner of a blog, following are the search engine optimization benefits that you can enjoy.

Well-Organized Content: The majority of the web log software applications come equipped with the ‘category’ feature that facilitates the task of grouping posts in accordance with themes. The categorization of various blog posts can not only help your readers to find their desired information easily but also the search engines that interpret and index your content effortlessly. As a result, a better ranking on those topics is very much likely in your case.

Search Engine Friendly URLs: Almost all blogging service providers offer clutter-free and search engine friendly uniform resource locators (URLs), thereby making the task easier for search engine robots to locate and crawl your posts.

RSS Feeds: The presence of web feed formats like RSS (Really Simple Syndication) can help you to distribute to your blog posts to a larger customer base and enhance your link popularity as well. This web publishing tool is equally effective in disseminating audio and video content in addition to text. Having the RSS feeds can enable your users to receive updated content from the web log automatically. There is also additional benefit in the form of RSS search engines that will regularly include your web log content.

New & Updated Content: Everybody loves freshness. Content is not an exception. Frequently updated information on your web log will be favorably received by both search engines and readers, resulting in recurrent visits. It also stamps the authority of your website

Building of Strong Community: A blog can pave the way for an effective interaction among like-minded individuals through ‘comments’ and ‘trackback’ features. Consequently, a strong user community can be established. Loyal members of this community can also lend a helping hand in publicizing your blog as well as website on other web logs, forums, and social networking websites like Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, etc.

Plenty of Widgets: Nowadays, blogging software is filled with many useful widgets and plug-ins that make sharing info with other online platforms easier. All these features can boost the number of inbound links as well as traffic. You can see numerous social news and social media sites receive a major chunk of content from blogs.

If you’re yet to fully utilize the potential of blogs in the promotion of your online business, it is high time you resorted to it. Happy blogging!!!

A blog master is to blogging what a zen master is to … well you get the point! Having a popular blog means that you as the site owner are keeping your readers happy enough they continue to return. It also stands to reason that your readers are likely referring your site to others which increases your blog traffic. Now obviously these are things you want and it is also nice to have your efforts appreciated but what exactly is it you have done to gain the favor of your readers? It all starts with realizing your site is based on its interactivity so a certain standard of behavior needs to be upheld by you, after all you are the host!

Here are 3 patterns of behavior and/or contact most popular blogs consistently uphold to ensure their visitors enjoy a positive experience

Cordial

Your site is basically a social gathering of people interested in the topic you write about and you are the host. If you want people to enjoy their experience you must act accordingly in a manner that is pleasing and respectful of others. With all the blog traffic you will be receiving (hopefully) it is inevitable that you will have some people who leave ‘negative’ comments and the best thing you can do is ignore them. To retort in a like minded way only lowers you to their level and casts a ‘gloom’ on the atmosphere of the site. As a musically inclined reggae philosopher once said, ‘don’t worry, be happy!’

Helpful

The core of any popular blog starts with posting content that serves some type of use to the readers. This is what people seek out online and what attracted them to your site! Another aspect of being helpful is to answer any inquiries they may have that are directed at you. Remember your site is a community where people can learn new things while also helping one another. Exchanges that keep these things in mind help to further build that feeling of community on your site.

Consistent and Dependable

Remember that by launching your site you are offering people an experience or service. You are also hoping they enjoy what you are presenting them and will therefore continue to return. With that said it is up to you to continue in a consistent manner to meet their expectations and maintain their loyalty. If you have established some type of posting schedule do your best to stick with it so people know what to expect.

Being a blog master means you have followers who enjoy your efforts and depend upon you to continue delivering. A popular blog concerns itself not only with the grade of content posted but also the tone of the environment as well. It is this combination that has attracted the blog traffic you are experiencing and keeps people coming back. It is always important to remember to view yourself as the host of a social site and to act in a manner where people feel comfortable and welcomed. Most popular blogs also realize people depend upon them to continue delivering the content and atmosphere they have grown to enjoy. As a blogger you take on responsibilities that requires a certain effort and tone of behavior as reviewed above, and it is these qualities that attract the blog traffic you experience. A blog master is always a good host and that is something you must remember if you want to have a popular blog!

The internet is abundant with competing businesses wanting to gain that golden place right at the top of Google. Yet, for many this does not happen due to a number of marketing tactics that have been unsuccessful. Here’s a few ideas on what those lower ranking businesses may be getting wrong.

Website News

When writing any website news articles for blogs or article directories, it’s vital that you stay on topic. The key to a successful blog is to remain focused, accurate and interesting. Keep readers interested by using various formats and styles, including through informative ‘how to’ articles, reasons why, advantages and disadvantages and reviews. They help to keep the reader informed, rather than pitch hard-lined sale techniques.

Quantity vs Quality in Article Writing

It is probably one of the most debated issues in internet article writing. So which one is worth more online? In an expert’s opinion, it is a bit of both as you need a decent amount of quality articles. Often the lower ranking websites get this part wrong, as a load of nonsensical articles won’t drive as much worthwhile traffic as quality articles. It does not matter how many links you’ve put in to drive traffic, if no one is interested in the article they simply won’t want to learn more about your company or business. Overall, quality is probably the main consideration in article writing, as a focused, unique and informative article is likely to gain more traffic than a number of unfocused and rapidly written articles. So get this wrong and you are likely to be at the bottom of Google’s pile.

Writing for the Audience

Time and time again, experts have come across blogs, articles and even websites that have been written for the wrong audience or even for themselves! When writing an article for SEO or marketing purposes, it is an imperative that you write for your target audience, not yourself. To do this, put yourself in your target audience’s shoes. What do they want? A friendly informal voice? Or a more formal and impersonal one? What do they know already and what do they need to know? You will also need to ask yourself about jargon and terminology, as it may need to be explained.

Who you are targeting will also affect the topic. So do your research and understand what your target audience are interested in and if they like to be updated with the latest news upon the matter or prefer a more instructive approach. A combination of the two usually works perfectly as reviews are complemented by the more instructive articles as they show how to use the product or service and demonstrate to the clientele that you care about your customers.

Like any website, a blog post must also be written with the audience in mind and be conscious of the company’s main agenda. Furthermore, a successful blog needs to have a unique presence on the internet which will be recognised by search engines. This can be done by the creating unique articles, either through content or style.

Adsense Alternatives For Your Blog Part 1

Many people have started using Google’s AdSense program to make cash on their blogs, but there are some who find it a bit too uncertain or simply not suiting their own requirements from an ad program.

Article Marketing Experts

100% Manual Submission Writing At Per 500 Words for FREE http://www.MagicSeoBot.com

But thankfully for such people, there are many alternatives to AdSense to help make you cash from your blog that attempt to alleviate some of the Adsense shortcomings. Here is a list of the most noteworthy ones from the lot with a description concerning each one.

AllFeeds has a great pool of online advertisers to choose from to place on your blog. It also features many display formats that you can choose from. These include banners, buttons, XML feeds, DHTML pop-ups and so on. It also features real time reporting of your ad status. The site will mail a check every month, provided that you earn more then $25.00, while rolling over earnings for the next month if you don’t. Another interesting thing about AllFeeds is that it integrates with Google AdSense, maximizing your earnings with AdSense.

MarketBanker allows you the unique possibility to set the pricing for your blog. It also allows you to allow or reject any link that appears on your site (although AdSense itself does a very good job of this as well, with URL filters) There’s also a statistics section which will allow you to see how well your site is doing. The ads are small just like AdSense’s and they’re just as easy to set up. Also, registration for MarketBanker is free.

BidClix is different because it has advertisers compete for clicks on your blog, which in turn is meant to generate the highest possible profits for your blogs pages. It also has a very large pool of advertisers which ensure there are plenty of people to choose your site. However, it does require more polish on site contents then AdSense. As most sites, real time statistics are available and its very easy to get started with this service, but it’s also very flexible.

RealContext uses Artificial intelligence to retrieve the most relevant ads for your page. And there’s an extra feature which makes RealContext unique as well. Keywords are selected based upon which previous selections paid off and which didn’t. That means there’s a constant feedback process that ensures you gain better revenue from your ads. It also supports blocking certain adds and child-safe filtering and many more options.

AdHearus is a very feature-packed contextual ad provider. As with AdSense, advertisements are targeted but it doesn’t stop here at all. The ads are very flexible, you can select from text-ads, banners, rectangles, pop-ups, pop-unders or skyscrapers. You can also display your own ads, through rotation, both on your site and on other affiliate sites, which makes AdHearus a hybrid with conventional advertising technologies. There’s a very comprehensive on-line real time reporting feature and, as usual with such services, starting out is free and it’s a breeze.

AffiliateSensor has highly customizable ad blocks, which you can make for yourself with an easy to use on-line interface. You also get realtime reporting with clicks-by-domain, page and referrer. There’s integration with Google AdSense as well, through the google_alternate_ad_url so AffiliateSensor can be used as a substitute for Google PSA’s (Public Service Ads).
